
regex (abbreviation for regular expression)
Regex is one of the wildcard patterns used by Unix utilities
like sed and awk, grep and Unix editors like vi and Emacs.
Also, regex is an Archie search option. When performing searches, regex is the slowest option because it
returns all of the filenames from the list or index that contains "any" of the text you are searching for.
